For the first time in Faroese history, a Children’s Law is being created to protect the rights of all children and young people, ensuring that every other law affecting children aligns with this one.
In other words: the Children’s Law is your law.
Before the law is approved in Parliament, there is a hearing – a process where people, organisations, municipalities, and others can give their opinion and suggest changes.
As a humanitarian organisation, the Red Cross is committed to ensuring that young people are heard.
We therefore invite you to take part in an open forum where you can share your thoughts, questions, and ideas about the proposed Children’s Law.
This workshop is for young people aged 16–23 with an international or mixed background who are currently living in the Faroe Islands to take part in the hearing, not just as observers, but as contributors.
🗓 Date: 14th of November
⏰ Time: 15:00–18:00
📍 Place: Stiðjagøta 6, Tórshavn
Together, we will:
- Review the draft
- Discuss what reflects real life – and what does not
- Identify what needs to be added, changed, or clarified
Why join?
✅ Because a law about children should include the voices of children and young people
✅ Because lived experience matters as much as legal text
✅ Because this is the first Children’s Law ever written in the Faroe Islands
✅ Because your voice can shape the final version of the law
