The Red Cross Youth Programme

🌍 The Red Cross Youth Programme – Meet, Connect & Create!
Curious to try something new?
The Youth Programme brings together young people for eight weeks of team spirit, action, and good vibes.

The programme originates from our continuous work with refugees in the Faroe Islands, and it addresses a need to build bridges and create connections between young refugees and local youth.

Each week offers something different — from bowling and sports to creative workshops, games, and cooking together 🍕🎳🏋️‍♂️.

It’s all about doing things together, having fun, and getting to know other young people in a relaxed and friendly way. You don’t need to know anyone to join — just show up with an open mind. Our volunteers make sure everyone feels part of the group from day one 🤝.

💫 About the Programme
This programme is for young people aged 15–25.
It’s a space to try new things, meet others, and share experiences across cultures.

For 8 weeks, we’ll meet once a week for activities, challenges, and social events — always supported by Red Cross staff and volunteers who keep things organised, safe, and fun.

🗣️ The main language of the programme is English, so everyone can join in and communicate easily.

👥 Who Can Join
The programme is open to all youth in the Faroe Islands between 15–25 years of age.

When we say all youth, we mean all youth! – including refugees, local youth, youth with international background and any other kind of background, most importantly:

  • The programme is for you, who is up for new experiences and meeting others in a positive environment.

You don’t need to be outgoing or have any special skills — just an interest in joining and being part of something great 🌍

📍 Where
All sessions start and end at Býarbókasavnið (Tórshavn Library).
From there, we’ll head out together to the day’s activity and return to the library afterward.

🗓️ When
Once a week — alternating Fridays and Saturdays

Fridays: 17:00–19:30
Saturdays: 13:30–17:00
(Some days may be a little longer ⏳ depending on the activity.)

Activities may change to match the group’s interests or due to weather or other circumstances.

💬 Optional English Sessions
Before every activity there will be short English sessions for those who want to participate*. (1.5 hours).
These sessions are an important part of the programme — they help you feel confident, practice useful phrases, and get ready for the day’s activities.
It’s an easy-going way to build language skills while getting to know others 💬✨

*The English sessions are however mandatory for Ukrainian refugees.
